Things to See and Do
Calamansi Cove is ideally situated to be in easy access of the most renowned excursions in Sri Lanka.
Our staff are happy to arrange all forms of transportation for guests, including train and taxi trips and hotel cars. Bicycles and tuk tuks are also available for those who wish to explore the local area.
For the water sports lover and surfers, our transport can take you to the renowned surfing destinations Bentota or Hikkaduwa just 20 minutes away.
A 40 minute drive will take visitors to the historic town of Galle, where the 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO – protected World Heritage Site, is the centre of activity.
In season, a 90 minute ride will take you to Marissa where whale watching trips happen daily.
Just 5 minutes away by tuk tuk (or directly from our beach) is the tranquil Madhu Ganga lagoon which makes for a fascinating boat trip. This goes past rural villages and visits local markets, temples, the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery and craft and antique shops.
Full day trips to the Yala National Park or Sigiriya are options or, for the culture fan, a quicker visit to the Ariyapala Mask Museum in Ambalangoda for an eyeful of masks used in southern traditional dance as well as a performance of masked dancing.
Another item that should be on every guest’s agenda is a tour and lunch at Lunuganga, Bentota, a stately home lovingly created by the world famous architect, Geoffrey Bawa.
